I have an Acer 7900Pro with Vista Ultimate 32bit. I found all my Empowering Utilities from the Acer site but Im struggling to get the eRecovery utility. does anyone have a link where i can download this application and should i download a seperate one for xp and another 1 for vista?

Raven, what country are you in? Acer has different support pages. From the US support pages, I don't see an independent download of eRecovery Management software. There is eRecovery documentation here. I do see this warning message everywhere:

i did download the tools for 7900Pro its just the eRecovery that im looking for and im in south afirca

Well, now I can confirm that I find no download from Acer that is called 'eRecovery'. Even on the EMEA FTP server, applications for Vista, it's not there. Unless it is part of one of these other packages -- did you look inside of these ZIP files?

hi guys. acer said that i can't download erecovery, it comes with the system image. but i can purchase these recovery disks at a very high price. any advice or am i screwed?

What about the alt+f10. Is there no option to burn disks there?

i formated my system a while ago and forgot about that stuff. acer says after you format you cant access that because it has been wiped so i have to purchase disks. probably serves me right for my stupidity

I would just call Acer and ask them for an installation disk. I know HP and Gateway ship those without a problem for a small S&H fee.

i did speek to them and they charge for the disks aswell. do you perhaps know of any good and free back up utilities to gives you the option to back up your computer to disk? i know the acer one tells you in advance that you will need x-amount of cds/dvds and then burns it to disk. im looking for something like that

Raven, as usual in life all the free stuff is involved with a lot of work. A little while ago I started this thread that explains the Ghosting/Imaging options. But forget the DVD idea. You are talking about 30 to 60GBs. You need an exernal disk of a good capacity (250GBs minimum - I use 640GBs). This said, the Maxtor One Touch disk is a good approach because it comes with the imaging software (Maxtor Manager) which you can install from the disk. If you compare that to the prices of the good imaging programs like Ghost or Acronis, you get the disk nearly for free.
The amount of CD/DVDs that Acer is talking about is for burning your recovery disk from the recovery partition. That, indeed, requires 2 DVDs or 11 CDs.

thanx for the advise guys. mods can mark this solved as i will take this one further with Acer and see if i can get those discs.

i found an eRecovery tool on acer's ftp site but its listed under VistaET and not vista. should that make a difference

Can you provide a link to this eRecovery tool that you found on an FTP site? I would assume that VistaET means Vista Empowering Technology. But, what system is this for? Remember their warning that you can't run Empowering Technology software designed for a model other than yours.

I remember but nowhere is there such a download for the 7900Pro. there is a Vista link but that contains no download for recovery tool
