Dungeon Masters purchasing this module can use it to run the adventure with very little prep, other than reading through the adventure in advance. The contents of the story are indexed and linked, where appropriate. Combat encounters and boxed text are preloaded and ready to drop onto maps and into the chat window with a few clicks. Nearly everything has been optimized and streamlined for ease of play online.
This Module Includes
  • the entire contents of the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure
  • image handouts that can be shared with players collectively or individually
  • 5 pregen characters that your players can choose when joining the campaign
  • maps containing information for the Dungeon Master (DM) only and with all locations pre-linked to story entries which may contain additional DM notes, boxed text, encounters, images and treasure parcels
  • maps with all hidden information removed and resized for use as tactical combat maps
  • tokens for most of the monsters in the module. When no token is available, a letter token is used to represent the NPC

General
Advantage/DisadvantageIn most situations where you would normally get a +1,+2 to a die roll, you instead gain advantage, which lets you roll 2 of that dice and take the higher result. Disadvantage is the opposite, instead of -1/2 you roll 2 die and take the lower.
CastingEveryone casts level 1 and higher spells like a pathfinder sorcerer now. Wizards and clerics reset their spell lists daily, while bards and sorcerers are stuck with theirs until leveling. Not sure for paladins or druids. Cantrips/Level 0 spells are infinite-use, and some actually scale with level, such as basic attacks.
SkillsInstead of skill points, 5E has a static bump called a proficiency bonus which automatically increases as you reach certain levels. If trained they are normally higher than using your passive ability score (ie Wisdom (Perception)). See Page 15 of PHB.
FeatsEvery 4 levels you can usually increase ability scores by +2 points. Instead, you can opt to take a feat, which are much more powerful than in PF (some increase your ability scores in addition to other things). PHB 165
RestIn 5e, we have the concept of long and short rests. Long rests are the usual 8 hours and everything resets, although here your HP restore to max. Short rests are usually up to 1 hour and let your restore some skills, and you can heal a number of times up to your Hit Die (Level) using your classes hp die + con bonus. IE a level 2 rogue with 14 con, can heal 1d8+2 up to 2 times. Long rest resets the Hit Die used.
CombatDuring your turn you get 1 Move, 1 Action, 1 Bonus Action, 1 Reaction
Attack and Move In 5e, you can split your move to make attacks, ie move 10, attack, then move 20. In PF this would have required the 'Spring Attack' feat, a heavy feat investment.
Attack of OpportunityYou only get opportunity attacks for enemies moving out of threat range. Spell casting close in is safe, circling your enemy is fine. There are feats to gain these types of control if a player wants them, and a monster might have them as a special ability. A player/npc must spend a Reaction to make an AoO.
ReactionsBy default each creature/player gets one reaction per round, which lets them 'react' to certain combat developments, such as Attack of Opportunity. Some skills and spells with a casting time of 'reaction' can be used this way.
FlankingFlanking grants rogues their sneak attack damage, but not advantage. The actual wording isn't flanking, but just attacking an enemy that also has an ally adjacent - which is much friendlier to the rogue.
Concentration Some spells require concentration. Unlike PF the only things that interrupt concentration are 1) getting KO'd 2) Casting another spell that requires concentration
DyingUnlike PF, if the player is reduced to fewer than 0 hp, he/she must reduce below his negative hp maximum to die (instead of Con score). So if I have a character with 27 base hp, he'd have to fall below -27 hp to die.
GrappleA little easier, it's a basic contest of Str (Athletics) vs Str (Athletics) or Dex (Acrobatics). More at 195 in PHB
